Whether it’s the careless wife wielding sharp metal objects while sitting on the expensive leather furniture (I’ll bet you can guess how my couch got scratched!) or the overzealous kids running around the house wielding sharp metal objects… your leather will eventually get scratched!

First off, this sucks! A deep scratch can be really hard to repair but light scratches can often be fixed with a high quality leather cleaner/conditioner/protector combination.

Ok, deep scratches. Thankfully I haven’t (so far) had this problem with my furniture but I know people who have had really bad scratches. Unfortunately it’s not a simple matter of rubbing on some leather conditioner and forgetting about it. It can be fixed however, but you’ll have to thoroughly clean the area surrounding the scratch and apply leather dye to the area. Once the dye has done its thing you’ll have to apply a leather protector.

I suggest you go to your local leather wholesaler, not furniture wholesaler but actual raw leather wholesaler. These guys know just about everything there is to know about working with and repairing leather. They will also have some really good products to get the job done, no matter how trivial or seriously your furniture is scratched.

Be sure to carefully read and follow the instructions since all products have their own special application instructions!
