Too hot to handle

Ever placed a hot pot (or pan) onto a table or countertop only to find that the heat damaged the surface? No? Well it does happen (not to me of course, but to others)… I’m writing this for them.
Most people simply place a wooden (or plastic) chopping board, or purpose made cork protector (available cheaply at IKEA in case you were wondering), but why settle when you don’t have to… not anymore!
The German design house of Adam + Harborth, Berlin, designers of many beautiful things have filled this need as well. The product is called “PERLE” and it’s a string of 28 porcelain beads, 3cm (about 1 ¼”) in diameter that can be arranged in a circle or figure 8 to accommodate small, large and multiple pots (or pans) or any other hot object.
A very stylish solution indeed. The best part is that while it’s a lot more expensive than the $1.50 IKEA solution, at about 60 EURO it’s not going to empty your bank account (hopefully) but it’s still exclusive enough to impress… big impact for relatively small $$.
