By the way, that 30kg built in hopper can keep the unit “fed” for about 24 hours in extreme cold and a few days in more mild weather, that’s pretty good when you think about it. For those who would prefer an out of site install, say in the basement or garage, you are in luck! Many of the manufacturers listed below also make more industrial looking units, basically the same combustion chamber but without the sleek looks… this gives you the same great efficiency with a much better price. Not only that but if you have some extra space, about 1 or 2 m2 (10-20 sq.ft) you can setup a total pellet feeding system.
These systems allow you to load huge container beside the wood pellet furnace with the pellets… probably a few hundred kilograms. This is connected to the furnace via a small conveyor belt or screw type transport tube that will continuously load the furnace with pellets as needed. Basically you load up the container and forget about it until next week! I’ve seen several of these at home shows and trade fairs here in Europe but have yet to see them available online.
Ok, I won’t do a write up on every single one because there are so so so many makes and models and I don’t think I could find them all… also not being able to speak or read Italian makes it difficult to hunt them all down, I hope you won’t hold it against me.
Since this is a website about modern décor/furniture/lifestyle/etc… I’ll just stick to the more stylish models. Below are links to Italian wood pellet furnace manufacturers that have interesting and stylish models available. (Remember, you can always contact them to see if there is a local or regional distributor)
By the way, most of these units start at about 3.000 EURO so they aren’t cheap but over time they could save you money… not to mention they look great.
- Palazzetti produces a very nice Multifire model. It is an in-wall firebox with hot air ducts to heat adjacent rooms, it’s a good solution. They also have all the others.
- Edilkamin has a very large selection of wood pellet stoves. They offer varieties with both natural exhaust discharge (vertical flue) and forced (through wall).
- Piazzetta has pellet stoves and classic wood burning fireplaces, very nice.
- Nordica Extraflame – The website is flash so you’ll have to visit the homepage and try to navigate through it in Italian. The good news is that it’s pretty straight forward as there are graphics to help you out. Or just visit this product site to get an idea of what they have: http://www.extraflame.it/home1.htm
- Clam offers both forced air and hot water units so you can use these wood pellet stoves to heat your hot water radiators and hot water heater. This way you heat your flat and provide hot water at the same time, a novel idea.
