Something has to be said for quality
All to often today we come across CHEAP products which are (no surprise here) LOW QUALITY.
It seems that there is such a huge demand for cheap, low quality goods that it’s becoming almost impossible to find products of quality and value. The biggest problem with this is that those rare few that do focus on quality have to bump their prices even higher to make up for the fact that less and less people are looking for their products.
Thank goodness for the Internet though! It lets us find and buy those quality goods and even save a few bucks by going through the whole process online.
One such Online retailer (and manufacturer) is Smith+Noble. They manufacture and sell custom window treatments, very high quality window treatments.
Smith+Noble lets you order custom treatments (blinds, shades, wooden shutters and fabrics) of all kinds for your home. Your order is processed and manufactured in 1–4 days and all for a price that is Okay. When you take into account the lifetime warranty and the quality of the finished product, the price is actually very good since you probably won’t ever have to order another set of blinds for the life of your home… which is more than I can say for the cheap-o brands.
Another alternative (when available) is to look for local shops that custom make window treatments. Although slightly more expensive, it’s worth looking into. The quality and final product are always worth the extra cost.

I can endorse that, as we’ve ordered from S+N. The price was high, but the quality was excellent. We were quite pleased.

Thanks Bill for the input.
I think people will eventually realize that cheaper is actually much more expensive in the long run.
There’s a saying here where I am, that poor people have to pay for quality goods because they can’t afford the cheap stuff.

Pete,
You are right on track with this story. The list of manufacturers now producing in foreign cheap labor countries is staggering. Not only is is bad for the economies where the labor left, but it is almost misleading to claim it as “Italian” when it was made in China or South America.

I had a horrible experience. They send me the wrong color valance and it was too short. However, that does not compare to all the drama I had to go through to get them to take it back. They’re like a bunch of Ray Barone’s on the phone. Absolutely no solutions but full of kind deceitful words.
