Some great budget decorating tips
This post on the Thrifty Decorating Blog has a few really great tips for those looking to decorate on a budget. Actually the whole site is full of good ideas but this post in particular caught my attention.
Some of the things that got me to take notice were the comments on colour and scents… it’s interesting how many people are afraid to experiment with colour in their homes. Yes, it can be a little odd if you’re not used to it but that doesn’t mean that you HAVE to live with it forever. Remember, colour can be introduced into your room by accessories as well as paint, and they are both easy to change or get rid of!
Another good point is made about the use of scented candles to help set a “mood”. Often overlooked, scents can play a major role in decorating… remember, your perception of a room is affected by all of your senses. Ever wonder why real estate agents (the smart ones anyway) recommend baking cookies or cinnamon buns before a potential buyer arrives? It helps them relax and puts them into a better mood. This is true whether you are selling your house or just relaxing on the lounger… I’m off topic already so I’ll stop while I’m ahead.
