Open Sesame – Modern Door Handles

Keeping with the first impressions theme I’ve had going for the last couple of posts… How about door handles? I’d mention the door too but it’s not always practical, and never cheap to change your front door so we’ll skip the door and opt for the door handle.
Aside from being a cheap fix (or upgrade), usually from $20 to $50 depending on the material and style, it’s also a great DIY project. Changing a door handle is no big deal. With basic tools you can get the job done in under 15 minutes. In fact, your biggest challenge will be removing the old door handle (they’re usually held together with a combination of old rusty screws, dirt and many layers of paint).
A door handle can say a lot about your place. It’s true, you can get a lot of insight into someone’s apartment by just looking at their door handle (assuming the landlord allows them to be changed). Not only that but they’re also much nicer to the touch.
