Metal, Concrete, Glass… oh my!

Nothing says “Modern Interior” like commercial building materials. Things like metal, glass and concrete have always been the modernist’s material of choice. The problem is that these are all a little too “hard” or “cold” for the average home.
I don’t know about you but I like my living space to be warm, comfortable, inviting and relaxing… as well as modern! Not an easy thing to do.
Well the good news is that you CAN successfully mix the two. Ok, glass and metal aren’t that big a deal, we’ve all got some glass/metal elements somewhere in our interiors, but concrete… that one’s always been a bit trickier.
Concrete is starting to show up more often in modern interiors these days and it’s surprisingly warm and inviting when done right. Concrete no longer has to look like the sidewalks and driveways we’re all too familiar with. Modern concrete can look anyway you want it to… from rough around the edges to a highly polished and refined piece of furniture.
The advantage of concrete is it’s “plasticity”, it can be formed into just about any shape you desire. You are not limited by the building material itself, like granite or glass for example. The other plus side is the endless opportunities for DIY projects. Make something beautiful and save money at the same time!

You’re so right that concrete in so many forms is starting to show up everywhere. It never ceases to amaze me of all the way floks are beginning to use it. Your uses are very appealing
