Thank goodness this post has NOTHING to do with 90’s rapper Vanilla Ice…

Instead, it’s about Ice makers. A very cool (excuse the pun) little gadget for your home or outing.

If you use a lot of ice, or want to start using a lot of ice then this is the perfect small appliance for you. No need to fiddle with ice cube trays, spilt water or the other annoyances associated with making large amounts of ice in your standard freezer. With an ice machine you just add water and in a few minutes you have ice.

Great for parties, BBQs, trips or dinner parties… it’s one more for the wish list.

Strange name? Maybe so but their appliances are nice. :)

Gorenje is a Slovenian brand, manufacturing mostly domestic appliances but they do have branch off into other areas (which I will not bother to talk about). Basically these guys were held to high regard mostly in the former Yugoslavia (as Slovenia was part of the former Yugoslavia) and Eastern Europe in general. That’s only the begining of the story though.

Since the split of Yugoslavia, Slovenia has moved on… now a part of the EU and quickly gaining respect and a reputation for great quality goods. Think of it like buying German quality at a discount price! But there’s more…

Aiding their expansion into Europe and beyond is their attention to STYLE! That’s why I’m writing. Gorenje’s attention to detail, quality and design has really helped them get noticed. Some of the features that set them apart include design by Pininfarina, CRYSTALLIZED™ – Swarovski Elements, digital displays, computerized brains and fantastic warranties.

Very nice.

We’ve seen the voice-recognition microwave, but how about the scanning microwave? What the heck is a scanning microwave you ask? It’s a new invention that may revolutionize the way people use microwaves. Beyond Smart has come up with a way to ensure that you never burn your popcorn again—or wrongly cook many other items.

This microwave comes with a scanning wand. When you go to put in a food package, simply scan the bar code with the wand and the scanning microwave will automatically set itself for perfect cooking. How easy is that? The new Beyond Microwave Oven is about $170 and comes with 4,000 items preprogrammed.

Now even bachelors can cook… kinda. ;)

This tabletop water cooler from Hamilton Beach holds two, three or five-gallon water bottles. It’s also got a child-safety button for dispensing hot water. That’s right, this water cooler disperses both cold and hot water. The valve is spill-resistant, which means a nice clean countertop. It’s a great deal at $68.

Check this out: The Electrolux Airwash

What is it? A washing machine of course! No, seriously.

It’s a washing machine that doesn’t use water. It washes clothes using compressed air and negative ions… or something like that. The design is inspired by a waterfall, go figure… it’s inspired by a waterfall, yet uses no water… It also doesn’t require detergent.

I don’t know how much it’s going to cost, when it’s going to be available or if it even works… but it looks nice and that’s really all that matters. :)
