Recently I received a review sample of the “Clyde soap dish/brush” from Kontextur.com and I’ve been putting it to regular use for the past week to see whether it’s really as good as it looks! The Clyde soap dish/brush claims to be “multi-functional soap dish/brush that stands out in a crowd”… and I think I can agree with that statement for the most part. While it’s looks are clean and modern, they are also subtle and won’t “stand out” much, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. One thing that struck me immediately was the quality, both in terms of design, as well as material choices and construction. This is after all a $30 USD soap dish/brush, not the cheapest on the market. Regardless of the price tag however, there is real value for money here. What makes Clyde “stand out”? Simple, the details. Things like the concave bristle surface that snuggly seats your bar of soap and prevents it from slipping away and onto the floor (or worse yet, your shirt… it’s happened), the cleverly textured silicon base that seriously resists slipping and stays put, the FIRM bristles that you can actually scrub with… it’s functional. It’s the details that separate ordinary products from great products, and Clyde is probably the best in class in regards to soap dishes, or soap brushes that I’ve owned or used thus far. Not too bad considering it tackles both tasks simultaneously. Any down sides? For some the price might be a turn off, but aside from that I really can’t offer any other suggestions… it’s a nice product and if you don’t mind the $30 price tag, I can’t think of any reason why you shouldn’t consider buying one the next time you’re in the market for bathroom (or even kitchen) accessories.

Oh yes, the name sounds naughty and you might even be embarrassed to say it in public; but don’t be, it’s a design icon of the 1990s… and makes a delicious glass of orange juice! Yes! The Juicy Salif by Philippe Starck for Alessi is a design icon of the 1990s and is often purchased and displayed as a sculpture rather than for it’s intended use as a juicer. I can’t really blame anyone for wanting to show it off, it’s a nice piece. There’s no need to display it on the mantel or on a shelf though, it’s aluminum construction will hold up well to repeated juicing and it will look better in the kitchen anyway. Not to mention the fact that you can get one for under $100 at any number of online retailers… if you’re interested in buying one, click here. Go ahead, treat yourself to a new piece of design, and a glass of fresh juice!

Its lines were defined by the proportions of human body. A very useful piece of furniture, it can serve as eye candy, a bedside table, regular side table, a footrest, etc. Your imagination is all that’s limiting you with this piece.
I love this type of piece, it’s functional, virtually indestructible and safe. Made from recyclable silicone makes it able to be dropped, knocked or tipped over with little concern. Jerry Lamp is soft and durable and because of its pliable hook shape, the Jerry Lamp can be used almost anywhere. When lit, the Jerry Lamp will get warm to the touch but not hot. The silicone is nontoxic and hypoallergenic. Perfect as a utility light around the house or workspace (or kid’s room).

This colourful TwistTogether Lamp appeals to all ages. Unique design, composed of individual blocks connected together, they illuminate with a simple twist. You can rearrange the blocks any way you want and enjoy their warm glow. Block dimensions are 4.5 inches wide by 4.5 inches high by 2.25 inches deep and they come in blue, orange, yellow and red. The TwistTogether Lamp is powered through a single block and all additional blocks light up when connected with a simple twist. The LEDs that illuminate each of the blocks provide a safe, low-voltage and long lasting light source. (it’s also more efficient than standard night lights…)
